Deprag automatic assembly equipment pick and place
February 05, 2019Processing is possible independent from the part geometry
The pick-and-place method is an alternate solution if the feeding through a feed hose is not possible.
Pick-and-place method
For handheld tools, the fastener is picked-up by vacuum suction or by a magnetic bit. The refill signal for the supply of the next component is generated by a pick-up control that is integrated into the cover of the pick-up nesting. After removal of a component, the next component is automatically presented for pick-up.
For stationary applications, a vacuum pickup technology or gripper-handling is used. The PLC’s sensor supervision controls both the pick-up and reloading.
Process reliable part-positioning
With the pick-and-place method, parts are not only directed to the station in true-position, but they are also securely presented to the assembly. A fastener or component is presented for pick-up, with the shaft portion wholly recessed in the bore. The engagement of the bit/socket with the screw drive is simplified, tumbling of the fastener or component is eliminated and tooling wear is significantly reduced.
Simple start-up procedure
Before delivery of your equipment, we perform an endurance test that simulates your workflow during series production. Each pick-and-place device is delivered with comprehensive documentation that clearly indicates the start-up procedure and operation of the equipment.
Cleaning the parts before insertion
In particular, the handling of small, sensitive components and the need for a clean assembly-environment requires additional and specialized cleaning procedures to be integrated into the assembly process. In the medical and electronics industries, the subject of technical cleanliness is becoming more and more critical. In response to the rising trend of technical cleanliness, Deprag offers a complete line of CleanFeed products.
The assembly of critical parts, components, and systems in conjunction with technical cleanliness occurs in a so-called clean production-environment. Deprag offers proven components that meet these requirements of technical cleanliness for use in automatic parts feeding and on assembly lines. Dirt particles are minimized using friction, gravity and vacuum with the help of a range of methods and components.
A standard CleanFeed cycle
1. The component is stopped, and dirt particles on the presented part (i.e., a fastener) are extracted by suction. A visible and exchangeable filter element collects the particles.
2. Afterward, the cleaned component is presented either to the assembly module tooling (inline variant) or to a pick position (pick-and-place variant).
Additionally, the use of the following equipment can help to minimize contaminating particles:
- Pre-cleaned assembly components (i.e., Arnold Cleancon screws)
Fewer particulates due to an additional cleaning process - Deprag HSF Sword Feeder
Vibration free part feeding and therefore fewer particles - Deprag Particle Killer
Debris in the auto feed process is reduces - Deprag SFM-V (vacuum screwdriving module)
Debris created during the assembly process is extracted using vacuum sources
