Source: AP Photo/Eric RisbergDesigned to draw attention to the issue of plastic waste in the world’s oceans, two artists have assembled an 82-foot-long blue whale made entirely of discarded plastic.

On display near San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge in Crissy Field, the sculpture created by artists Joel Deal Stockdill and Yustina Salnikova is made up of plastic from discarded water bottles, bags and lids.

The work is a collaboration of the Monterey Bay Aquarium the National Park Service and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.
