Bechtel says it was selected by Horizon Nuclear Power to be project management contractor for a proposed two-reactor nuclear plant in Wales, United Kingdom. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Wylfa Newydd 2,700 megawatt power station is proposed to be built on the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales. It would be part of a UK strategy replace aging nuclear stations and fossil fuel plants with new nuclear plants and renewable energy.

Hitachi Nuclear Energy Europe would provide the UK Advanced Boiling Water Reactors for the power station, and also would serve as architect engineer. JGC New Energy UK is providing services related to the balance of plant, which include supporting components and systems needed to deliver the energy beyond the generating unit itself.

Bechtel is now completing construction on Plants Vogtle Units 3 and 4 for Southern Company in Georgia.
