Facebook says it will start work on a 970,000-square-foot data center in Eagle Mountain, Utah, near Provo.

The investment includes more than $100 million in infrastructure, including a new electrical substation that will bring 1,000 megawatts of power delivery capacity to the region.

The data center is expected to be powered by renewable energy through Rocky Mountain Power's renewable energy tariffs. Facebook will buy its own water rights and build the required water infrastructure.

The data center is expected to employ 30-50 people full time, with the potential for more contract workers. It is expected to come online in 2020.
