Source: Oilgear CompanyAccess extra energy storage capacity from subsea accumulators without increasing the pressure ratings of the existing subsea piping and subsea hydraulic control system in order to assure compliance with API 53 and BSEE.
Deep-water and ever-increasing actuation requirements present an inherent problem for subsea control systems. Pneumatic accumulators are less effective and hydraulic accumulators are rated at higher pressures than the rest of the control system.
The Subsea BARS™ fully redundant pressure intensifier and pressure regulator from Oilgear allows operators to access extra energy storage capacity from subsea accumulators without the need to increase the pressure ratings of the existing subsea piping and subsea hydraulic control system.
Subsea BARS™ is placed between the subsea accumulators and the rest of the control system. It is used to boost the pressure of the fluid received from the surface. An integrated pressure reducing regulator is then used to feed fluid from the attached hydraulic accumulators.
Features include:
- Assures compliance with API 53 and BSEE
- Automatically kicks-in only when needed
- Real-time control is not required
- Fully redundant intensifiers and regulators
- ROV-controlled enable or bypass
