Rail Control Technology Approved for Mainline Upgrade

Mainline rail control technology from Bombardier has received approval for use in Sweden. The approval will enable the Interflo 450 signaling system to be implemented as part of Sweden's program to modernize its entire 11,000-kilometer mainline rail network.
The announcement follows use of the technology on both the Ådal and Bothnia pilot lines, which entered operation in 2012 and run with 99.9 percent availability. Bombardier has also equipped more than 130 vehicles with its EBI Cab onboard system. This technology is compatible with both European Rail Traffic Management (ERTMS) and the existing signaling system, enabling trains to operate as the Swedish network is upgraded.
The wayside system can cater to higher-speed operations, optimizing the flow of trains and supporting network interoperability.
Bombardier is a leading signaling supplier for Sweden's regional and commuter rail lines, most recently equipping a new Stockholm City Line.
