Ophir Optronics Has Launched BeamCheck,™ a New Beam Profiling System
Roger Pink | April 01, 2017Ophir Optronics has announced BeamCheck™, a new beam profiling system that ensures accurate laser performance in selective laser sintering (SLS), selective laser melting (SLM) and other additive manufacturing applications involving lasers. BeamCheck measures critical beam parameters such as focal spot size, power, power density at the build plane and changes in those parameters over time.
Gary Wagner, General Manager, Ophir says, "Laser-based additive manufacturing processes, such as SLS and SLM, require consistent energy be delivered to the material so the power density is just right -- neither too hot nor too cold -- for successful material modification. BeamCheck determines if the laser is delivering the right amount of power, and if it is distributed and focused at the right location." BeamCheck integrates a high resolution CCD camera and a NIST traceable power sensor for a complete analysis of the laser power density, resulting in accurate beam spot size and power density measurements.
Ophir Optronics has released a video of the BeamCheck, found here. Additional information can be found in the press release for this product.
