Fives opens a new subsidiary in the US
GlobalSpec News Desk | May 08, 2025Fives FCB, the cement and minerals subsidiary of the industrial engineering Fives group, is opening a subsidiary in the U.S. Fives FCB USA Inc. This strategic expansion will allow U.S. customers to enjoy even easier access to the extensive portfolio of value-added low clinker blended cement and supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) production equipment and services from Fives. In particular, the new resource will help plants improve profitability and facilitate flexible, productive and less energy-intensive operations.
A significant milestone that completes Fives’s strong presence in the U.S.
With a history stretching back over 200 years, the Fives Group has a long-standing presence in the U.S., dating back to 1859. Today, over 1,500 people of the Group’s 9,200 employees are currently based across 14 sites in the country. Sharing the premises of Fives’ North American Construction Services (NACS), the new Alabama-based Fives FCB USA Inc. subsidiary will leverage this extensive network to promote Fives’ solutions, including equipment, integrated plants and services.
Fives has established references in North America, demonstrating its commitment to delivering high-performance solutions to local clients. The opening of a new subsidiary dedicated to the cement, concrete and minerals industries with a local team of sales and technical experts is further proof of Fives’ commitment to providing the U.S. market with cutting-edge technologies and exceptional service in a more responsive way.
A closer presence through active membership of associations
Offering further evidence of its local footprint, Fives FCB is proud to be a member of several local industry associations, including the Portland Cement Association (PCA), the Construction & Demolition Recycling Association (CDRA), and the American Coal Ash Association (ACAA). With active participation on technical committees, these memberships reflect the company's commitment to advancing sustainable practices and supporting the development of environmentally friendly technologies.
Fives offers unrivaled expertise for blended cement and SCMs
Over the past few years, U.S. producers have shown a growing interest in high-quality blended cements and low-carbon SCMs, such as natural or artificial pozzolana, coal ashes, or slags of various types in order to reduce the clinker content in cement and cement content in concrete. Processing SCMs or introducing processed SCMs in existing facilities, while ensuring optimal quality and efficiency, demand new industrial solutions or process adaptation in the fields of thermal activation, drying, selective grinding or fine classification.
Fives is one of the few market players that can offer all the necessary solutions with the capacity to assess on a case-by-case basis both future product quality and process performance through a combination of semi-industrial pilot testing and a large installed base of industrial experience.
By extending its presence in the U.S. through the opening of a subsidiary, the experienced Fives team of

Focus on Fives’ top-tier technologies for low clinker blended cement and SCM industries
New opportunities can be proposed to U.S. customers with increased profitability and reduced carbon dioxide impact using Fives’ digitally controlled technologies:
- the FCB Horomill (horizontal roller mill), producing low clinker cement without any water injection, offers the lowest energy consumption on the market: around 40% to 50% less than conventional ball mills or 15% to 20% less than vertical mills, while always delivering optimized operation whatever the product or recipe,
- the FCB TSV Classifier ensures the utmost product classification efficiency, with its THF and UHF (for very high and ultra-high fineness) versions meeting the demands of applications such as high-quality low clinker cement or products micronization,
- the FCB Rhodax offers interparticle compressive grinding for hard and abrasive applications, as well as the liberation of heterogeneous material components such as concrete. The FCB Rhodax — coupled with a the TSV Classifier — allows qualitative concrete recycling by producing highest quantitative and qualitative aggregates, sand and cement paste for either direct use in concrete or cement processes,
- advanced and proven solutions for clay flash calcination deliver a unique process that fully unlocks clay’s potential as a highly reactive SCM with targeted color and lowest carbon emissions.
