Volteq, a manufacturer of construction equipment, has announced its new Sky 1000 battery-powered mini track loader, which reportedly boasts enough power to compete with diesel versions with the added safety and convenience of remote-control operation.

According to the company, the Sky 1000 is equipped with a 20.48 kWh lithium-ion battery, which offers up to eight hours of operation on a single charge and 1,000 lbs of lifting capacity. Further, the IP67-rated battery is resistant to water and dust ingress and is compatible with 110 V and 220 V outlets.

Additionally, the remote control system enables users to operate the machine from up to 160 ft away. The standard controls can be detached from the machine to create a “mobile operator’s station,” thereby offering operators enhanced visibility for a clear line of sight to the work area and reduced exposure to dust and vibrations in certain applications such as demolition.

The company added that both the machine and remote control feature emergency stop buttons, while the remote control monitors the operator's location, thus maintaining a safe distance and preventing accidental collisions. Likewise, a noise notice also alerts the operator and bystanders of the presence of the lower-noise machine.

The Sky 1000 is reportedly compatible with 15 Volteq attachments — hammers, augers, trenchers and grapple buckets, among others — as well as with attachments from other manufacturers.
