Robotics firm Pickle Robots has developed a warehouse robot that unloads boxes from trailers in warehouse settings.

Aptly called Dill, the robot can reportedly unload as many as 1,600 boxes an hour on average from the back of a truck. With a peak rate of roughly 1,800 boxes an hour, Dill can reportedly handle boxes of assorted shapes, sizes, styles, weights and colors. Likewise, the boxes do not need to be neatly stacked. Dill can use its Kuka robotic arm to pick through disorganized shipments.

Dill is semi-autonomous, requiring some human oversight to maintain its high operating box-unloading speeds. However, the robot, which is designed exclusively for the task of unloading boxes, boasts speeds twice that of humans who, according to estimates, can only move 800 boxes an hour on average.
