Video: Intelligent battery designed to benefit EV range
S. Himmelstein | November 11, 2020After one year of design and development, Slovakia-based InoBat Auto unveiled its Gen1 lithium battery, reportedly the first electric vehicle (EV) battery designed with both artificial intelligence and high-throughput technology.
The battery is engineered to deliver a 20% boost in range for current best-in-class EVs. The production method based on high nickel, low cobalt concentration chemistries allows for high power, energy density and battery life

Production of the first intelligent battery iteration, designed to provide an energy density of 265 Wh/kg , is scheduled for the end of 2021. Density will increase to 298 Wh/kg by mid-2022 and battery cells with 330 to 350 Wh/kg and 1,000 Wh/l will be available by the end of 2023. A longer-term goal is to remove nickel from batteries and advance anode technology development to achieve a target 500 Wh/kg.
The company also plans to build a 10 GWh gigafactory to supply advanced EV battery customization for 240,000 EVs annually by 2025.
