Manufacturer develops ventilator splitter
Engineering360 News Desk | May 04, 2020Source: CombiliftCombilift, an Irish manufacturer of compact forklifts and other handling solutions, has developed the Combi-Ventilate, a splitter device that turns one ventilator into multiple ventilation stations.
The Combi-Ventilate fills a gap in critical medial equipment due to COVID-19 and was developed by a team of mechatronic and software engineers.
The Combi-Ventilate is a system of standard pipes and fittings for easy assembly and its individual patient filters prevent cross contamination. Each patient has his or her own screens that allow medical professionals to individually monitor their vital information, including live values, data on patient history and statistics and adjustable alarm settings. The Combi-Ventialte also features non-return valves, HEPA filters, flow sensors and an automatic flow control valve. In the event that abnormalities are detected, an alarm will be triggered.
Additionally, the Combi-Ventilate has automatically adjustable flow control valves that enable healthcare professionals to control the tidal volume to each patient electronically without making manual adjustments.
