Source: NASANASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, will begin accepting applications for its next class of Artemis Generation astronauts, beginning March 2 through March 31.
Named for the 2024 Artemis mission that will bring the first woman and the next man to the moon, Artemis Generation astronaut candidates could potentially join NASA’s current roster of just 48 active astronauts on future missions to the moon and eventually Mars.
Eligible Americans who are U.S. citizens with a master’s degree in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)-related fields, two years of relevant professional experience or 1,000 hours of pilot-in-command time logged in a jet aircraft, are encouraged to apply for the open positions.
Following a two-hour long online assessment, candidates will be expected to pass NASA’s long-duration spaceflight physical. For more on the positions, go to NASA’s website.
Candidates for the astronaut program will be selected in mid 2021.
