Source: MarketairMarketair's new disconnect standby switch (DSS) is available in three different models with either a 120 V 15 A, 240 V 25 A or a 240 V 30 A receptacle. The three-position disconnect toggle allows operators to simply attach the cord from a portable generator and return power to light commercial air conditioners and heat pump condensers in the event of a power outage.
The DSS is supplied with either a three- or four-prong plug for connecting single- or three-phase power units. A three-position toggle provides three pathways; house power “PWR”, disconnect “off” and generator “gen”. It is wired in the same manner as a disconnect box while providing a dedicated plug-and-play generator connector.
The DSS features a 6-inch cubed NEMA enclosure, a code-compliant locking cover and status indicator lights. A double pole double throw switch prevents back-feed during outages. It comes with a one-year limited warranty and is also available with a 75 kA surge protector. The DSS, when combined with a portable generator, improves the response time when returning power to light commercial air conditioners or heat pump condensers during a power outage.
