Source: ORCAORCA has presented a new solution for food waste. This technology utilizes proprietary microorganisms for aerobic digestion of solid food waste and it produces a liquid that is safely disposed of via existing sanitary sewer infrastructure, eliminating the need for solid waste management.
ORCA produces aerobic digestion process equipment. The company offers four models with an aerobic process capacity of up to 100 pounds per hour. All units are fabricated from food-grade stainless steel. Over 2,000 units are installed worldwide for a number of industries including anything from grocery stores and restaurants to municipalities and convention centers.
The ORCA system addresses space limitations, diverts food waste from landfills and reduces the carbon footprint associated with food waste. It eliminates the dependency on the traditional truck and bin collection system and is supplied with the ORCA Portal, a dashboard that allows users to analyze real-time data and generate custom reports.
ORCA offers a service and consumables package which includes a visit from a service technician every 60 days. The technicians replenish the ORCA’s microorganism supply and ensure biochip levels are satisfactory. With four models that have capacities ranging from 15 to 100 pounds an hour, they deliver a sustainable solution for food waste management.
