Source: wikipedia.comChina's State Council has brought together senior government officials to act as an oversight group for the planned transformation of the nation’s manufacturing sector.

The group will be responsible for improving cooperation between different regions and government ministries in an effort to boost the manufacturing sector, according to a statement by the Council.

The move is part of China’s “Made in China 2025” campaign to increase its manufacturing abilities, and match competing countries such as Germany and Japan at their early stages of industrialization.

The Council says it hopes that the oversight group will help China move from its current reliance on high volume, low-end manufacturing to more value-added and technology-intensive production.

The group identified 10 growth sectors as key to economic growth: new information technology, numerical control tools and robotics, aerospace equipment, ocean engineering equipment and high-tech ships, railway equipment, energy saving and new energy vehicles, power equipment, new materials, medicine and medical devices and agricultural machinery.
