Magnaflo fluid bed dryers and granulators are based on a flexible design. From laboratory scale units to large scale batch processing units capable of processing up to 1,200 liters, all of their systems are designed with almost identical bed depths, air velocities and air ratios that facilitate process scaling.

Fluid Air found that in order to provide proper lift and achieve process efficacy, they needed to maximize airflow and differential pressure. To accomplish this, their systems incorporate the highest pressure and highest flow process blowers available powered by variable frequency drives that help ensure adequate power transfer.

Fluid Air claims that the conical shape of their expansion chambers reduces air velocity in the filter chamber by as much as 50%, which prevents fine particles from reaching the upper filter region and the spray nozzles below when granulating.

Available features include Fluid Air’s bottom agitators, which are designed to ensure even processing conditions. A spiraflo bed plate acts to eliminate any amount of channelling or non-uniform fluidization patterns. Several process filtration options, including standard filter bags, cartridges or a combination of the two with an acclaimed highest air to cloth ratio in the industry, help prevent sidewall build up inside the filter bag. The filtration system also includes Fluid Air’s patented pulse filter cleaning technology.

Additional options for the fully customizable unit include vacuum loading valves, side discharge valves, chamber gravity feed, wash-in-place cleaning, bottom discharge and roto granulation.

The manufacturer suggests opting for the modular format to expedite start-up times. They also provide pre-packaged factory built inlet and exhaust systems that help reduce on-site construction costs.
