A new medical student study guide combines printed books with an augmented reality (AR) app. The Gunner Source: Elsevier IncGoggles Series from Elsevier Health is designed to enhance the value of printed text by providing contextual links to online information, videos and other materials for a deeper dive into various topics.

The seven books, which were written by high-performing medical students and residents, are organized around the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination and National Board of Medical Examiners content outlines for specific shelf exams. The titles cover medicine, family medicine, neurology, ob-gyn, pediatrics, surgery and psychiatry. Effective study techniques, sample study schedules, tips and tricks to better retain information learned from review questions, and methods to self-generate mnemonics are also included.
