The Chinese State Council has announced a new 10-year plan that promotes advanced domestic manufacturing in 10 sectors, including robotics, aerospace and new materials.

The plan, called “Made in China 2025,” aims to transform China into a manufacturing powerhouse.

According to the State Council, the 10 sectors are: new information technology, numerical control tools and robotics, aerospace equipment, ocean engineering equipment and high-tech ships, railway equipment, energy saving and new energy vehicles, power equipment, new materials, biological medicine and medical devices, and agricultural machinery.

China will announce two additional plans to bolster the nation’s manufacturing capabilities.

In its 2025 plan, China identified several priorities, including improving manufacturing innovation, integrating information technology and industry, strengthening the industrial base, fostering Chinese brands and enforcing green manufacturing.

The plan also aims to encourage breakthroughs in restructuring the manufacturing sector, promoting service-oriented manufacturing and manufacturing-related service industries and internationalizing manufacturing.
