Skeleton Technologies is a recognized leader in graphene-based ultracapacitors and energy storage systems.

AHC systems are used with marine lifting and hoisting equipment. They compensate wave movement keeping loads steady in marine environments.

Ultracapacitors are ideally suited for energy recovery in the heave-up phase of the AHC system and they readily release the stored energy in the heave-down phase. It increases the efficiency of the AHC system reducing overall power demands by as much as 75%.

The first module is being built with plans for testing in the North Sea in 2019. Alongside efficiency gains, the power conversion system allows for fail-safe stoppages during blackouts. It provides vessels and rigs with transient support improving voltage and frequency response during such event. The system effectively reduces peak power requirements while increasing system reliability. It reduces the potential for mechanical damage making marine operations safer and more economical.
