Strukton Rolling Stock and AmePower agreed to work together to develop the U.S. market for traction inverters. The device converts supplied energy to drive motors as efficiently as possible, with the help of power electronics and dynamic motor control techniques.

Among the projects the two companies have teamed up on in recent years is a high-power electric locomotive upgrade and the refurbishment of the propulsion system of the A650 heavy rail trains of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Spanish passenger train manufacturer Talgo was recently awarded the primary contract for the Los Angeles project.

Established in 2002 and based in Miami, AmePower builds assemblies, provides repair services, stocks key power electronics components, and offers replacement for obsolete IGBTs. AmePower’s main market is traction inverters for the mass transportation and mining industries.
