Robot manufacturer Dobot Robotics has introduced its CR20A high payload collaborative robot (cobot).

Recently making its debut at the Hannover Messe industrial trade fair held in Germany, the CR20A has a 20 kg payload, a 1,700 mm working radius and ±0.1 mm repeatability. As such, the CR20A is reportedly ideal for tasks such as heavy load handling, packaging, palletizing, workpiece machining and long-seam welding. Specifically, CR20A is capable of stacking up to seven items per minute in palletizing applications.

Thanks to the design of the CR20A and its associated algorithms, the CR20A’s residual vibration is reduced by 50% during high-speed stops, according to its developers.

Further, Dobot has created process package software for palletizing, welding and other tasks, the combination of which enables users to customize and deploy solutions in just a few steps, while meeting the demands of small-batch and flexible production.

To ensure safe robot operation, the CR20A robot also features an electromagnetic brake protection mechanism that automatically engages during events like a power outage, thereby preventing the robot’s end tool from falling and ensuring that displacement does not occur during start-up and shut-down.
