World Quantum Day is an international, community-driven event held on April 14 to spark interest and generate enthusiasm for quantum mechanics. The date marks the rounded first three digits of Planck’s constant, a value which sets the quantum scale.
This celebration of quantum science was first launched in 2022 with more than 200 events worldwide. Events and activities are now underway in more than 65 countries to highlight relevant domains including atomic and molecular physics, high-energy physics, condensed-matter physics, astrophysics, cosmology, quantum gravity, quantum plasmas, quantum optics, quantum information science and quantum engineering.
World Quantum Day also provides an opportunity to applaud the Nobel Prize in Physics 2022 awarded to Alain Aspect, John F. Clauser and Anton Zeilinger “for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science.”
