According to the IEA, industrial heating can account for two-thirds of industrial energy use and 20% of overall global energy use. And because many industrial processes require high and precise temperatures, it means that often this heat is provided reliable, high-carbon fuel sources, such as coal.

In turn, there are industry-wide efforts to improve efficiency and find new, lower-carbon fuel sources. Or instead, find creative uses for waste heat or manufacturing byproducts. Meaningful gains in industrial and processing heating can be a major boon to environmental causes, as well as bottom lines.
