Source: volcocars.comVolvo Cars and Autoliv will join efforts on the Drive Me large-scale autonomous driving (AD) initiative. The Project involves 100 self-driving Volvos that are used in normal driving conditions by individuals and commuters on public roads in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The companies will share research and development into safety technologies. Engineers and other industry experts collaboration will rate on active safety systems.

The Drive Me project is collaborative, with companies and organizations such as Volvo Cars, the Swedish Transport Administration, Swedish Transport Agency, Chalmers University, Lindholmen Science Park and the City of Gothenburg participating.

The project started in 2013 and the first families are expected to be driving the roads of Gothenburg in autonomous vehicles in 2017.
