Norway-based Evoy, a developer of electric propulsion system for high-speed boats, has unveiled a 150 hp Source: Evoyoutboard system with batteries. The prototype Evoy Pro is touted as the most powerful electric outboard on the market.

The new outboard system has been supported financially with NOK 1.8 million from Innovation Norway. The goal is to have it completed and ready for the market in the first quarter of 2021.

The outboard motor is especially designed to fit the Zodiac Milpro MARK 5 from Frydenbø Milpro, the industry standard for exploration cruises in Artic regions. The system is expected to ship with its own controllers, battery management and electronic dash with 10 in or 16 in screens.

The 90 kW nominal prototype will undergo final field performance in the summer of 2020 tests. The engines will initially be used by Norwegian cruise company Hurtigruten to power a fleet of Zodiac vessels.
