The new windows reduce sound, meaning homeowners no longer have to worry about their neighbor's barking dog or the Saturday morning lawn mower interrupting their home life. Source: Pella Corporation"Home sweet home" can quickly become "home stressful home" when bombarded by the sound of lawnmowers, barking dogs, traffic or other unwanted noise. Pella Corporation recently became the first U.S. window and door manufacturer to be awarded the Quiet Mark certification for superior noise reduction. Quiet Mark, an independent international approval award program recognizing a selection of the quietest technology and noise reduction solutions, encourages companies to address noise reduction when developing products.
Pella received the certification for the Pella Lifestyle Series. These triple-pane wood windows come with an optional sound package that, Pella reports, reduces 52% more sound than single-pane windows. (Hear the difference here.)
According to Quiet Mark, noise exposure is associated with heart disease, disturbed sleep, increased blood pressure, hearing loss and other health issues, impacting tens of millions of Americans. Other brands that have been awarded certification include: Electrolux, Dyson, Mitsubishi Electric, Logitech and Whirlpool.
