NV Energy says that it wants to add at least 350 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy projects to its distribution mix.

The request for proposals invites developers and suppliers to integrate battery-based energy storage systems. The new renewable resources must be built in Nevada.

In May, the utility announced that it had secured more than 1,000 MW of renewable energy resources. The six solar energy projects and three related battery energy storage resources were the result of a competitive solicitation. All of the projects announced in May are expected to be completed by the end of 2021.

Over the last nine years, NV Energy has more than tripled its in-state renewable energy production. The newest request for proposals seeks solar, geothermal, wind, biomass and biogas projects that meet Nevada's renewable portfolio standards. The utility says that it will consider supplemental battery energy storage systems that are integrated with renewable energy resources.

Bids are due by Dec. 10. Projects proposed by successful bidders will need to be approved by state utility regulators.
