Teledyne has introduced an industrial grade 3D time-of-flight (ToF) camera for use in challenging environments like logistics, robotics, inspection and surveillance.
Called Perciva ToF, the industrial imaging device is powered using Teledyne e2v’s Hydra 3D+ CMOS imaging sensor and combines an 832 x 600 pixel resolution with the company’s HiRho technology — that boosts fill factor multiplied by quantum efficiency (FFxQE) at near-infrared wavelengths while maintaining modulation contrast and modulation transfer function (MTF).
The ToF camera features a 10-micron three-tap pixel architecture allowing it to capture more light, operate over longer distances, image fast-moving objects without motion artifacts and reliably detect low-reflectivity materials, Teledyne said.
The company added that this allows end users to receive accurate 3D measurements even in high-speed industrial applications.
Additionally, the Perciva ToF can perform in varying outdoor illumination and interference caused by other systems without requiring interconnecting cameras. As ToF cameras are light-starved, real-world light collection efficiency is enhanced due to the device’s depth maps and point cloud data that is integrated directly through the camera’s GigE interface, Teledyne said.
