Tata Steel has reportedly signed an agreement with the University of Warwick in the UK to establish a research and development (R&D) center focused on low-carbon technology.

The facility at the university’s Warwick Manufacturing Group will open later this year, staffed by 40 Tata Steel scientists. Tata Steel plans to shift its R&D activities to this location over time.

Work will focus mainly on developing new materials used in renewable energy generation, as well as automobile and aircraft. The center will also work on research into emerging steel production technologies.
