In a scheme meant to help fund its ongoing underground tunneling projects, The Boring Company will soon be selling life-sized ‘Lego-like blocks,’ according to a recent announcement from Elon Musk.

The blocks, which will be made from tunneling rock, will be suitable for creating sculptures, and Musk tweeted that the first set of available bricks will be Egyptian themed.

“First kit set will be ancient Egypt — pyramids, Sphinx, temple of Horus, etc.” Musk said.

Rated for California seismic loads, the bricks — which will be bored in the middle, making them lighter weight and thus easier to move — will also be suitable for constructing a house.

The Boring Company aims to reduce the costs of its underground tunneling projects meant to help solve the issue of traffic congestion.

The mission of The Boring Company, according to a statement on its website:

“To solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic, roads must go 3D, which means either flying cars or tunnels. Unlike flying cars, tunnels are weatherproof, out of sight and won't fall on your head.”

“A large network of tunnels many levels deep would fix congestion in any city, no matter how large it grew (just keep adding levels). The key to making this work is increasing tunneling speed and dropping costs by a factor of 10 or more — this is the goal of The Boring Company.”
