Powered by Skyfield AI-controlled navigation and control software, the Razor VTOL drones reportedly mimic both helicopters and jet fighters, operating with a ceiling height of 20,000 feet and delivering high kinetic payloads of up to 1,000 lb.
Further, the Razor VTOL drones can also function as missile carriers, subsequently extending the range of small air-to-air or air-to-surface missiles.
The company explained that the UAVs can loiter in place until commanded, and then deploy missiles for final target acquisition, thereby enhancing the reach and precision of missile systems.
Described as a fraction of the size of other aircraft designed for carrying the same payloads, Razor VTOL cargo drones are appropriate for military operations with its AI GPS-denied navigation system and control, rapid ascent, descent, loitering and extreme maneuverability. Likewise, these cargo drones can take off and land autonomously, requiring minimum support from the crew.
Additionally, AI offers the drones situational awareness, and the drones are designed to act decisively and reliably based on mission goals, while factoring the life-and-death stakes of those actions.
