Watson-Marlow advances polymer metering capabilities with the new Qdos 60 PU pump
Diana Aoun | August 08, 2023Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions (WMFTS) has introduced the Qdos 60 PU peristaltic pump to meet the growing demand for advanced polymer dosing systems. This addition to the company's product range enables operators to achieve efficient, safe and reliable polymer metering in water and wastewater treatment plants.
Polymers play a crucial role in coagulation and dewatering processes during sludge treatment. Effective dewatering reduces the bulk of sludge, leading to significant cost savings in storage and disposal. To meet regulatory requirements for efficient sludge dewatering, accurate and reliable polymer metering is essential.

The Qdos 60 PU pump offers precise and repeatable flows for handling challenging fluids such as viscous flows and aliphatic hydrocarbons. It can achieve linear flow rates of up to 60 l/h (0.264 U.S. gpm) and pressures of up to 5 bar (72.5 psi). The pump is designed to handle complex polymers like polyacrylamide (PAM) and other flocculants and coagulants used in wastewater treatment. With its low-shear, gentle pumping action, it protects polymer chains and maintains the integrity of the product. The Qdos 60 PU utilizes an aliphatic hydrocarbon-resistant tubing material, ensuring excellent chemical compatibility in peristaltic pumps.
One of the key features of Qdos pumps is their highly innovative design, with only the patented ReNu pumphead needing replacement. The ReNu pumphead provides repeatable and accurate flow rates, making it ideal for tough applications. Replacing the pumphead takes less than a minute, essentially providing a new peristaltic pump ready for operation.
The introduction of the Qdos ReNu PU pumphead expands the application range of the Qdos series. They are available in different sizes and control options to meet specific requirements.
