KSB SE & Co. KGaA introduces the EtaLine Pro series in-line pumps for building services applications
Diana Aoun | July 10, 2023KSB SE & Co. KGaA recently showcased its new series of fully integrated in-line water pumps designed for building services applications. These pumps prioritize low energy consumption and efficient material use, achieved through a hydraulic system optimized for high speeds.
The compact design of the EtaLine Pro pumps results in significant material savings compared to conventional units. These pumps require up to 44% less aluminum, 49% less grey cast iron, 68% less magnetic steel sheet and 73% less copper. The motor design incorporates classic ferrite magnets, eliminating the need for rare Earth elements known for their environmental impact during extraction. The motor rating ranges from 0.8 kW to 2.6 kW, with a wide voltage range of 380 V to 480 V, suitable for global use.
The EtaLine Pro pumps offer various intelligent pump functions, including dynamic control, sensor-less control, multiple pump operation and heat quantity measurement. These functions allow adjustments to be made to the operation or operating points even after installation. The pumps can adjust flow rate and head based on an algorithm, following a programmed control curve. Integration into modern building management systems is facilitated by multiple digital interfaces.
With only five hydraulic system sizes, the close-coupled pumps operate quietly and cover a wide selection range. They achieve a maximum flow rate of 63.6 cubic meters per hour (280 US gpm) and a maximum discharge head of 42.9 meters (140 feet). The design prioritizes ease of service, featuring standardized mechanical seals and a reduced variety of components.
The pumps and mechanical seals are designed to handle operating pressures up to 16 bar (232 psi). Standard mechanical seals are suitable for a maximum operating temperature of 120° C (248° F), depending on the specific application and fluid being handled. The cast casings undergo a cathodic e-coating process to provide superior corrosion protection.
