Flowrox offers redesigned line of slurry knife gate valves
Engineering360 News Desk | June 08, 2020Source: FlowroxFluid control company Flowrox has redesigned its line of slurry knife gate valves, offering larger valve sizes from DN 900 to DN 1500. Their size makes them stable and easier to handle and access to perform maintenance.
Traditional actuator tower designs operate adequately with slurry knife gate valves, but only if the valve is adequately small enough. A valve DN 1200 used with the traditional tower design would require a valve that is 5.6 m high in the open position, which would create a higher center of gravity and make the knife gate valve difficult to handle.
Consequently, the line of Flowrox slurry knife gate valves, with sizes from DN 900 to DN 1500, do not require a cylinder tower. Instead, two actuator cylinders are located at each side of the valve. As such, using a Flowrox DN 1200 knife gate valve means that the valve would be 3.6 m high in a fully open position, 2 m less than the height with the tower design.
According to Flowrox, the abbreviated height and lower center of gravity gives the knife gate valve additional stability.
