A new collaboration between IBM Watson and the workforce management platform Kronos will offer hourly workers access to a virtual career coach.

The virtual career coach, according to reports, will offer hourly workers guidance on opportunities available within their companies as well as the training necessary to apply for those opportunities.

Considering that there are an estimated 80 million hourly workers in the U.S. according to data from the U.S. Department of Labor, offering software to help guide career development makes sense for overtaxed managers who don’t have the time to train or guide employees on a career path.

“The opportunity to serve this important segment of our global workforce, and the enterprises who rely on hourly workers, is significant and a major commitment for both our companies,” said Aarti Borkar, vice president of product management and design for IBM Watson Talent.
